Rider Analysis Appointments

Rider Analysis Clinics are a fabulous and affordable way of knowing exactly what your body is doing. This awareness that comes from knowing where your asymmetry lays can be beneficial for injury prevention measures but also from a performance increase aspect. As we’ve already covered rider asymmetry has a knock-on effect to the limbs and back area of the horse. The straighter the rider, the more equally loaded the horse’s limbs and back are. This is something that we should all be striving for, to create a happier, more willing partnership with our horse.

Rider Analysis

During one of our Rider Analysis Clinics our clinician will note and video every aspect of your position. We use 'body markers' on certain areas of your own and your horses' body to make subtle changes in position more obvious to see in the videos. Sometimes a Marker Jacket may be worn to further show abnormalities in the riders position.

A basic gait analysis of the horse will also be noted and any further information that has been picked up on will be within these notes. It is completely normal to be uneven - Most of us are. Being aware of these asymmetries is what matters.

What to wear

During your rider analysis session, our clinician will be evaluating and videoing your riding position in walk, trot and canter and in both directions. Your riding will be videoed and notes made. These videos will be sent over after the session. This will allow you to 'see' what our clinician saw during the appointment. Tight fitting riding leggings or breaches of a dark colour are necessary, as is a dark, reasonably snug fitting top. We advise that the top is long-sleeved for 2 reasons: 1) The bobbles stick better and 2) We feel a long sleeved top offers slightly more protection to the arms in the unlikely event of a fall.
